This amazing couple have huge hearts for servitude, children and music. I have known of this gorgeous couple in similar church circles and long time friends of Timothy's older sisters. To be a part of this wedding I knew to expect something big and boy! I was not disappointed.
When I met Amanda at one of my favourite coffee spots I wasn't sure what to expect. I had only met her once before and remembered her bubbly personality. I always feel nervous and excited when meeting with potential clients. But I always go into the meeting with the mindset + heartset of whether I would truly be a right fit for them. Well fast forward to an hour later and a booking was locked in. I left feeling excited about Amanda + Len's wedding day and hearing how family would definitely be honoured by the couple as they were to marry at a family home in Levin that is only a 10 minute drive from one of my favourite holiday spots - Hokio Beach. So I was happy to know the location well.
Now this wedding was pretty special as Amanda knew of my daughters (aged 8 + 10) singing here and there and requested a wee song for them. It was so precious to have worked together on this wedding with my family. So glad to say that we all did pretty good :)
Here are some snaps from Amanda + Len's wedding day that was filled with tears, laughter and some awesome cultural dancing.
Evelina is an old friend of ours who 12 years earlier had actually attended my wedding. Over the years we had kept in touch here and there, so to hear from her again was so lovely. When you hear a potential client say that they had considered you to do the photography for their day but wanted to try someone local and then found they kept coming back to you. You know it was meant to be.
Finie is Indian and Evelina is Samoan. With that combination I knew their wedding was going to be a celebration of cultures coming together. Before their big day, I drove to meet them half and shot their engagement session near the Kaimanawa Ranges along the Desert Road. It was grey and yet beautiful. A very relaxed session hanging out with them both.
Their wedding day was a long awaited one for everyone especially Finie and Evelina. Testimonies shared on their day by close families and friends spoke of their personalities that were caring and selfless. It sounded like a match made for only each other.
A beautiful day was set aside for these two I believe.
Favourite memory was of Finie sharing with me that his brother living in America who couldn't make it had gifted him and his new wife a grand entrance via Helicopter to their reception. It was such a sweet gesture.
Forecast for their day in October was set for rain. But you wouldn't think so with all the smiles and laughter from Will + Tash, their bridal party and guests. This day had been a long time coming for Will + Tash. One that they got to celebrate with their son, who looked very dapper in his little suit.
Their ceremony and reception were held at Sorrento in the Park. A very relaxed ceremony, with lots of photo taking afterwards with all their family and friends gathered around. We later drove to the underpass in Onehunga which provided such a beautiful clean canvas behind them. Even better that Tash's gorgeous bridesmaids colour popped out against the grey. It's always fun taking portraits of the guys. As awkward as some of them get, it always gets them laughing at each other. Those are the best moments I find during formal portraits.
One of my special memories of the day was watching Tash's father and daughter dance. Tash's parents have passed some years back, so to have Tash's uncles, brothers, and Will's family each take turns in dancing with her made the moment so much more special. Not a dry eye in sight.
Beautiful wedding it was to kick off my 2014-15 wedding season.
I absolutely love this wedding! Everything was put together by a very crafty bride + groom and supported by family + friends who all made this the vision that the couple had dreamed of.
Set against a beautiful Sydney, this wedding was simple and intimate with a special surprise for the groom when from the back of the house you could hear engines revving driving down the street. It was like watching a little boy find out he just got the best present ever.
I got to meet some gorgeous people with huge hearts for this couple. What a beautiful day it was.
When I received an email from Lupe, I thought whoa! now that's a blast from the past. Lupe helped my husband (then fiance) sort out accommodation in Auckland in prep for our big day. To now receive a message from her asking me to photograph her wedding I was deeply honoured :) To repay her kindness was an opportunity I had been waiting for.
Lupe + Max (like most of my clients) reside in Sydney, Australia so our communication was all via email. We hadn't met once so for everything to fall in place made this wedding extra special.
Their backdrop was the beautiful Le Lagoto Resort in Savai'i. If you ever get the chance to go there, you will not be disappointed by the quality of service and atmosphere.
Lupe went with a beautiful lace gown while her bridesmaid adorned a more traditional but beautifully made blue + white puletasi. The groom + his boys wore matching ie faitagas with alohas (lavalavas with pockets and shirts). They looked awesome!
An absolutely beautiful wedding for a couple so in love.
Rebecca + Motu reside in Brisbane, so all contact bar one catch-up at good 'ol Maccas was via email. Despite only having met once I had no doubt that their day was going to be beautiful. A January wedding in Wellington guaranteed a beautiful bright day.
Arriving at where Rebecca was getting ready I was taken back by the lovely details she put together for her day. Her shoes were "wow" and matched perfectly to her lovely dress. The bridesmaids were vibrant in blue and looked gorgeous.
Motu waited nervously as grooms do at St Andrews in the City and oh-my is that church beautiful. Everything looked beautiful and the ceremony was short and sweet. As it was a bright sunny day you guaranteed passer-bys congratulating this gorgeous couple at the Botanical Gardens where they had their portraits taken. The day ended with a night of laughs, tears and dancing at the glitzy Rydges.
Truly was a beautiful day :)
